About the Author
HORATIO T. STOTHER was a professor of history at South Central Community College (now part of Gateway Community College) in New Haven, Connecticut. He was interested in the Underground Railroad since boyhood, when he envisioned it as “a big train roaring through a long tunnel.”

Fine, well-researched book with clear, accessible writing style

The Underground Railroad in Connecticut is a fine, well-researched book with a clear, accessible writing style. The subject sounds a tad dry, but in the author's hands is of high interest, with fast-moving plots in each chapter of historical adventures. The book covers general themes, as well as Connecticut specifics, and sources and references are scrupulously cited. It is a wonderful, important, and interesting book. I recommend it to my graduate students in social studies education.
