Amazon description leaves out a crucial detail

A wonderful book by a great composer and thinker. If Rick Bass were a classical composer, this is sort of book he'd produce.
One huge thing that Amazon doesn't mention: the book comes with John Luther Adams CD inside! So the price is really a great bargain.

Words about music, beautifully composed

It's hard to use words to describe music. John Luther Adams is as good as anybody I've ever read in doing so. More to the point, he also has important and insightful things to say.
He once wrote, "Let's see what we can hear. Let's hear what we can see."
And let's read, too.
