About the Author
TOMIE HAHN is an associate professor in the department of the arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. A performer and student of Japanese dance since the age of four, she has been awarded natori— the professional stage title of Samie Tachibana—from the Tachibana School in Tokyo.

If you love dance BUY THIS BOOK!

This is an amazing book. It's an ethnography (a study of a specific culture, be it a subculture or counterculture) that talks about Nihon Buyo, traditional Japanese dance. It comes with a DVD that gives examples from within the book and is so wonderful. You can learn some of the dances that they show if you want to as well because it's that easy to follow. MUST HAVE this book if you love dance.

I read this book while working on course work for a doctoral program. I couldn't put it down! I read it cover to cover. It is wonderfully written, and the DVD makes it even more necessary for your office or home library.
